Military Protocol and Brain Health
Honorable, patriotic young men and women sign up to serve their country in the
military. They accept the risks of their calling: they write their names and blood
type on their boots and prepare a will. Injuries occur during deployment. Physical
trauma, blast injuries, toxicity from burn pits and super toxic sites are common.
The longer a military member serves and with more deployments, the more injury
accumulates. What protocols are in place to track these injuries ?
What is the standard of care ?
Functional testing for brain blast injury and other concussion / TBI injuries
should be standard before and after deployment: Cognitive testing with the
ANAM, RightEyeQ testing for visual information processing, Computer based
balance testing, Sleep monitoring and screening for emotional well – being.
A baseline brain MRI – DTI – NQ without contrast to assess brain health should
be standard before and after deployment. Billions of dollars are spent preparing
troops to be warriors, we can spend millions of dollars restoring their health.
Basic blood work should include CBC, CMP, B12, D3, TSH, Testosterone level.
Troops should be nutrient optimized for optimal health and healing. Hormone
replacement should be done as needed. Screening toxicity tests after deployment
should include labs for heavy metal testing, GI testing (including for parasites)
and urinalysis for environmental toxins associated with burn pits.
